10/30/2017 - Sheriff's Office to Host Citizens Academy in January

The Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office is currently taking applications for the 2018 session of the  Citizen’s Police Academy. This Citizen’s Police Academy will consist of sixteen sessions offered on Thursday evenings from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The classes will run from January 11th to April 26th 2018, and will end with a graduation ceremony. The class will be limited to the first 25 applicants who successfully pass a background investigation.

The Citizen’s Police Academy will introduce participants to the various functions of the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office and will feature instruction by staff from the different units of the Sheriff’s Office. The goal of the Citizen’s Police Academy, in addition to providing an overview of the Sheriff’s Office, is to create meaningful partnerships with the citizens of Spartanburg County and give the Sheriff’s Office the ability to serve our citizens better and more efficiently through the open exchange of knowledge and communication.

The Citizen Police Academy is open to adults, 18 years of age and older, and is provided free of charge.

 Applications are available at the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office, 8045 Howard St., and online at www.spartanburgsheriff.org. Applications will be accepted through end of business on Friday December 15th, 2017.

Completed Applications must be returned to Master Deputy Darren Dukes at the Sheriff's Office located at 8045 Howard St.
