Yesterday afternoon, the Special Victims Unit of the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office concluded an investigation that began in May, 2023. Daniel Kellan Mayfield, 36 years old, 224 Amber Sky Dr., Boiling Springs, SC, 29316, was first arrested by the Greenwood County Sheriff's Office for Voyeurism last year, and their investigation led to the involvement of the Greenville County Sheriff's Office. Greenville began examining multiple electronic devices that were seized from Mayfield, and as their investigation progressed, they charged Mayfield with multiple counts of Voyeurism, and they also identified locations in this county where Mayfield had committed the same offense. A majority of these incidents occurred at wedding venues where Mayfield was the contracted photographer/videographer. As we received evidence from Greenville, it took considerable time to identify, notify, and interview those victims.
As a result, we charged Mayfield with 38 counts of Voyeurism for 24 victims. He was transported from the Greenville County Detention Center yesterday at 2:30 PM, and booked into our facility after those warrants were served on him.
He will have a formal bond hearing today at 2:00 PM at the magistrate's office at our detention facility. Once that hearing is over, he will be transported back to Greenville's detention facility, where another bond hearing will be held tomorrow, since he has pending charges for the same offense from Beaufort County and Mt. Pleasant. Because of the multiple jurisdictions, the SC Attorney General's Office will be handling his prosecution. If there are other female citizens in this county who feel like they may have been victims of Mayfield, they are urged to contact Investigator Tiffany Hill either by calling her at (864) 503-4579 or emailing her at thill@spartanburgcounty.org.
