Meet Deputy William Ricketts! 

Originally from Lilburn, GA, Deputy Ricketts joined the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office in 2021, bringing with him experience from his previous law enforcement role in the Low Country and a background as a Naval Flight Officer in the F/A-18F Super Hornet during his active duty in the U.S. Navy.

Soon after completing his FTO training, he became a Tactical Flight Officer with our Aviation Unit while working in Uniform Patrol. In 2022, he advanced to Field Training Officer and, by 2023, was promoted to Corporal, serving as Night Shift Supervisor for our Central Area.

Deputy Ricketts is now a full-time rated helicopter Pilot with our Aviation Unit, where he is responsible for training our Tactical Flight Officers. Holding a bachelor’s degree in information technology and a master’s in diplomacy focused on international terrorism, Deputy Ricketts continues to serve as a Commander in the United States Naval Reserves.
