02/28/2014 - Spartanburg Sheriff's Office welcomes newest K-9 Officer to the force

The Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office would like to welcome to the force the newest member of the K-9 Units.  This 8 week old Bloodhound was recently chosen from a litter of puppies that was bred by the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office. (See Article) He will immediately begin his training and once completed, he will be trained to track human scent.  He will assist in the tracking of criminals and search and rescue of individuals who are lost.

In keeping with the friendly rivalry between the Gaffney High School and Byrnes High School, the new recruit has been given the name “Rebel” in honor of the Byrnes High School Rebels.
