04/03/2013 - Monument for fallen deputy moves to a new home

The Sheriff's Office would like to thank Jack Quinn and the folks at Jamar Memorials and Larry Price and his staff at Price Construction for helping to move the memorial monument to Deputy Kevin Carper. The monument had originally stood alongside of I-85 at the Highway 129 overpass. However, the ground underneath the monument was starting to erode and it became necessary to move it before it fell over. Sheriff Wright and those involved in the creation of the monument felt the best place for it was here at the Sheriff's Office on Howard Street. In it's new home more people can view the monument and remember the ultimate sacrifice Deputy Carper made the evening of February 27, 2007 while protecting and serving the citizens of Spartanburg County.
