04/28/2015 - Four Arrested in theft of Coupons INvestigation

Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Investigators conducted a surveillance operation at the Spartanburg Herald Journal on 4-26-15, in reference to several reported thefts of coupons.  Charles Markell Tucker, 102 White Tail Ct, Greenville S.C., and David Ray Griffin 115 Rasor Drive Greenville S.C., were arrested at the Herald Journal Distribution Center, 200 Herald Journal Blvd, Spartanburg S.C., after being caught in the commission of a Burglary while stealing coupons from the business on 04/26/2015. Through video and statements the suspects were also charged with a previous Burglary from 4-19-15 at the same business. Both Griffin and Tucker were charged with two counts of Larceny and two counts of Burglary 2nd.  Through the course of this investigation it was determined these thefts have been occurring for approximately 4 months.

On 4-28-15 Spartanburg County Investigators arrested Jacob D. Bishop and Lea M. Bishop, 880 Archer Road Spartanburg S.C., in connection with this investigation.   Jacob and Lea Bishop were charged with helping sale the stolen coupons on social media sites that were stolen from the business. Jacob and Lea were both charged with two counts of Accessory after the Fact of Burglary and two counts of Accessory after the fact of Larceny. The investigation is ongoing, more suspects and charges are anticipated.  We are asking anyone who may have purchased coupons from the defendants to contact the Spartanburg Sheriff’s Office at 864-503-4500.

Jacob Bishop was a Detention Officer with the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office; he resigned his position once his involvement became known in this investigation.
