On March 30, 2022, Devantae Alzondrae Griffin was reported as a missing person by family members to the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office. Griffin was alleged to have last been in the company of Jessica Marie Strachan on March 29, 2022. Investigators interviewed Strachan who claimed no knowledge of Griffin’s location. Early into the investigation, it was determined that Strachan was interfering with the investigation. An arrest warrant for Obstruction of Justice was issued for Strachan. Strachan was located and arrested in Miami, Florida on April 1, 2022. Strachan bonded out of jail on April 15, 2022, but she violated her home detention, was arrested again on April 25, 2022, and remains incarcerated. During the course of the investigation, Tarus Dorail Crook, B/M, 33 years old, last known address of 102 Hudson St., Spartanburg, SC, 29306, was identified as a person of interest. Investigators were able to locate Griffin’s body in the woods behind the Evans Acres neighborhood in a shallow grave on April 26, 2022. Investigators have determined that this case is a homicide.
