During the early morning hours of March 12, 2022, the victim, Jarqueze Rashad Williams, stopped at the Scotchman convenience store located at 370 Bryant Rd. While Mr. Williams was in the store, two unknown suspects came to the store from Southern Pines Apartments at 350 Bryant Rd. The two unknown suspects got into Mr. Williams’ vehicle and attempted to drive off. Mr. Williams saw this and attempted to stop them. One of the suspects shot Mr. Williams, and they then fled the scene in his vehicle, which was recovered abandoned at another location in this county approx. 15 hours after the incident. Mr. Williams went to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center to be treated for his injuries, but he passed away on March 25, 2022.
