05/17/2014 - Clifton Man Arrested in Connection with Murder of His Wife

On Saturday, May 17, 2014, deputies responded to 511 Hawk Hill Road in the Clifton community in response to a 911 call from a man at that residence. Upon arrival deputies found that man’s wife, Mitzi Larson, had been the victim of a shooting. Investigators from the Sheriff’s Office Violent Crimes Unit began their investigation of this case and developed the victim’s husband, Michael Lee Larson, as the only suspect in this case. During the course of their interview with Mr. Larson he informed Investigators that he had shot his wife with a shotgun which resulted in her death. Investigators presented the findings of their investigation to a Spartanburg County Magistrate Judge who issued two warrants for the arrest of Mr. Larson. He has been charged with one count each of Murder and Possession of a Weapon During a Violent Crime. Mr. Larson is currently in the Spartanburg County Detention Center where he is awaiting a bond hearing at a time and date to be set by the court.
