06/01/2021 - Sheriff Wright announces Involuntary Manslaughter charges in Overdose Death

On February 10, 2021, the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office was called to the scene of two overdose victims located at 345 Bryant Rd., Spartanburg; SC. Narcotics investigators were also requested by the uniform patrol deputies to respond to the scene due to the nature of the call, and the evidence located on the scene. Narcotics investigators started an investigation of the incident. From their efforts, a suspect was identified and leads about this suspect were followed up on. That suspect was arrested on April 14, 2021, in an unrelated case for Trafficking Methamphetamine and Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine and has remained incarcerated since then.  Despite that arrest, the investigation of the earlier overdose case continued, and from interviewing the suspect, she confessed to selling Ms. Emory a quantity of heroin 2 days before her death. After consultation with the Solicitors Office, it was determined that Brittany Nicole Cash, W/F, DOB: 090590, 122 Clearview Dr., Spartanburg, SC, 29307, distributed the heroin that killed Carson Emory. Cash has been charged with Distribution of Heroin and Involuntary Manslaughter.   The investigation regarding the death of Fields remains active.
