06/08/2021 - Man arrested for Attempted Murder

This morning at approx. 6:00 AM, deputies responded to a shooting at 2604 Old Spartanburg Hwy., Woodruff, SC, 29388. Upon arrival, they located a male victim who had been shot in the head. Once the scene was secured for EMS to enter and transport that male victim, deputies spoke with 2 female victims that the suspect had also shot at while they were in a vehicle. The suspect shot their vehicle multiple times, but fortunately neither one of them were struck. Those females wrecked their vehicle into a tree in their hurry to get to safety and call 911. Those females were further interviewed by violent crime investigators and identified the suspect as Cody Flynn Kennerly, W/M, Old Spartanburg Hwy., Woodruff, SC, 29388. The lead investigator signed warrants on Kennerly for 3 counts of Attempted Murder and Possession of a Weapon During the Commission of a Violent Crime, and he was arrested without incident earlier this afternoon. Despite his arrest, our investigation continues, since a motive for the incident has yet to be established. The victim is still in critical condition at a local hospital.  Kennerly was out on bond for an arrest in April of this year for numerous weapon offenses.
