07/08/2013 - Violent Crimes Division makes arrest in Armed Robbery Case

After investigators with the Violent Crime Division arrested Smith early this morning for the Armed Robbery to the Kangaroo Express at 8700 Asheville Hwy., Boiling Springs, SC, this afternoon, they have been able to charge him with 2 more Armed Robberies to convenience stores. The first one is from June 7, 2013 to the Lil Cricket at 1228 Boiling Springs Rd., Spartanburg, SC, 29303. For that incident Smith has been charged with Armed Robbery, Possession of a Weapon during the Commission of a Violent Crime, and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. The second one is robbing the same Kangaroo Express at 8700 Asheville Hwy., Boiling Springs, SC, on June 29, 2013. For that incident, Smith has been charged with Armed Robbery, Possession of a Weapon during the Commission of a Violent Crime, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and Kidnapping. Because of all 3 incidents at convenience stores in combination with his past history of similar offenses, the violent crime investigators have requested a formal bond hearing that is scheduled for Tuesday, July 9, 2013, at 11:00 AM.
