08/17/2013 - Man Arrested after Violent Home Invasion

The Violent Crime investigators with the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office have arrested a home invasion suspect from earlier today. The incident occurred at 3:30 PM at 2361 Sugar Ridge Rd., Boiling Springs, SC. The suspect in the case is Shannon Cregg Plumley, W/M, DOB: 070568, 202 Virginia Ave., Greer, SC. The owner of the residence is dating Plumley’s estranged wife, but neither the owner nor Plumley’s were at the residence at the time of the incident. The owner’s younger son was home when Plumley made a forcible entry into the residence while armed with a handgun. Plumley assaulted the victim with the handgun by forcing it into his mouth and also striking him with it. Plumley then forced the victim at gunpoint from the residence to an outbuilding, looking for the owner and his estranged wife, and while in there, damaged items in that building. Plumley then forced the victim back into the residence at gunpoint and left the scene. There was also a neighbor who witnessed some of the incident while it was occurring outside the residence. The victim called 911 and after officers arrived on the scene, the victim was transported to the hospital for treatment of his non life threatening injuries. The investigators made telephone contact with Plumley who agreed to meet them at the Sheriff’s Office. After he was interviewed, he was arrested and transported to jail. An investigator presented the case to a magistrate judge who issued warrants on Plumley for Burglary – First Degree, Kidnapping, Aggravated Assault and Battery, Malicious Injury to Personal Property, and Possession of a Weapon During the Commission of a Violent Crime. Because of the Burglary – First Degree charge, a circuit court judge will have to set the bond on that charge.
